Ever wanted to export JUST a specific object/object type from a database? So you won’t have to wait forever (OK, two cups of coffee) to have the export finished?
I know I did! After exporting the data_only from tables of a tablespace..I found I also needed to have the grants of these tables..Sure, an export of metadata_only of the same tables would give me the same thing, where it not had I done this already, but with the include=INDEX:IN(‘ ‘,’ ‘) parameter as used in a previous post.
I didn’t want to have ALL of the metadata…just the grants.
I decided to use the same approach and just extract the grants of the tables..And yes, this is possible. I consulted the documentation on
and found out, you can just about filter everything you want from the database export. I’m not going to reiterate all the information provided on the link, but I will present an example of how I used the filter.
I created a parameter file with the following contents:
tables=(scott.TGBGLD014954, scott.TGBGLD902953, scott.TGBGLD906953, scott.TGBGLD902954, scott.TGBGLD906954) directory=DUMPME dumpfile=scott_objData.dmp logfile=scott_objData.txt content=metadata_only include=OBJECT_GRANT
And then run the expdp command as usual..Using the link provided, you can extract all you want…or better..the less you not need 😉
